RandTel
If you are interested in hosting a RandTel phone at your location or place of business, there are only a few simple site requirements:
- A physical location to mount the phone - Such as a wall, pedestal, etc. In places where the phone is mounted on a wall, a hole will need to be drilled to run the phone wiring.
- Electrical power - The phone draws about 5-10 watts, and can run on 120v AC from a wall socket or 12 volts DC (like a car battery). Solar power can be provided where feasible.
- An internet connection - Wired or wireless (aka WiFi) will work. If wired, we’ll need to run a cable to your router.
That's it - we take care of the phone line, as well as regular maintenance of the phone where necessary. All local and long distance calls are free at no cost to you or your business.
Depending on the location, we can install special reflective or illuminated signage to advertise the phone's position.
Most installations where the phone doesn't require its own enclosure use a 178A backplate, shown below. The plate is attached to a wall, and the phone is secured to the plate:
If you wish to host the phone under a covered porch or indoors, it will be mounted to this style of plate. It can be mounted with lag screws if securing to wood, or masonry screws or anchor bolts if securing to concrete or brick.
